It is finally raining today in Phoenix! Such a nice sound to wake up too....very calming. I have been reading up on Meditation lately. I have been facinated by it since getting into Yoga a few years ago, but never really practiced it. I always liked how calm I felt at the end of a yoga class. I started re-reading The Art of Happiness based on teaching of the Dalai Lama. I may not be really religious, but I like the idea of a compassionate loving life and always working to be that way towards other people. The other books I read that discusses mediation is more my speed, Meditation in a New York Minute. It talks about using all of those in-between times you have like walking to your car, driving to work, showering etc. and gives ideas for meditation practices. Many of the ideas are based on breathing techniques. I actually learned some of them in yoga, but never really thought about using them throughout the day. Nice thing is that the guy who wrote it was an investment banker looking for a less stressful life, which I can relate to! I'll see how that works this week. :)
