Holidays!

Holiday!

So the holidays are over…barely before they begin! The last several months were so busy I was one of those people at the shopping on Christmas Eve this year. This year for Xmas, I spent time with family. Carrie came into town from Portland, so I was able to spend time with her. Lots of laughing a teasing with the siblings. On Christmas Eve we discovered the joy of playing old Commadore 64 games. On Christmas Day, we headed to my brothers place to play with my niece and see her family. Pretty low key.

Of course someone asked me what my New Years resolutions are. And for the first time…and I really had to think on this one. I think it is because I have accomplished so much this year. I started a division at my company, I ran three half-marathons (and will do the marathon in a week). I traveled to many fun places (Colorado many times, Virginia, Vegas, Tahoe, Backpacked the Grand Canyon, Seattle) I worked on a non-profit board, and got involved with more charity work. I already got started on the classic New Years resolution- get in shape. I think running the marathon will cover that. Also, right before xmas I gave myself a present of a year of personal training once a week to work on weights. Needless to say, the last week I have been sore!

This year, my main new years resolutions are more soft skill – being a better person. I was reminded on more than one occasion this year of the Golden Rule - treat others as you would like to be treated. And wished I had followed that more often this past year. That is my number one goal for the coming year, to always keep that in mind. Spend more time with family and friends, and let them know I love them. Build character daily - I like this website, it is actually for kids but holds true for everyone. In the YMCA, we used to have something similar.

I do suppose there are a few things I would like to accomplish this year that are more tangible though –

1. Complete a triathlon

2. Travel out of the Country – Europe is looking good right now

3. Read more – I love books, and try to make time each day to read and learn.

4. Write more - I usually journal every day, writing out thought and things I am grateful for everydayy, but I have this long term dream to write a book.

5. Track all of my finances – the little things that add up

6. Get back outdoors – Backpacking, Mt. biking etc. With the marathon training, I took a hiatus from this and am looking forward to getting back outside.

7. Play my guitar~ take more lessons in this.

Here's to 2007!
