Just got back from the yearly Telluride trip - 5 years going now! This year, I think the theme was Murphy's law. It started good, we got in earlier than usual and got to run into town to get a bite to eat the first night (usually we get in late and do not have the chance) The next day, I just felt off. I thought it may be due to the marathon training, or the lifting I have been doing with the personal trainer. It was cold, and snowing pretty stedily all day. By the first few runs my legs ached, and I was frustrated. First run on a foot of powder is fun, after a day of skiing by everyone it gets tough to plow through for me. It turned out by that evening, I had heart palipitations and all- altitude sickness. It was the last thing on my mind, heck I had been to Colorado many times in the last year and never had an issue. I am guessing the training and lack of sleep the few pervious days had something to do with it. I slept in the second day, and that seemed to do the trick. I was back to old form by late afternoon.
However, this was the day when Murphy's law kicked in. We found out people's cars had been broken into back at home (luckily not mine it turns out) the guys almost got busted by ski patrol, and I got sick to my stomach by the evening after eating something with dairy. Argh.
The last day made up for the trip. Freshly groomed ski runs, lots of sunshine and my body was up for it! Yeah! This was how I remembered skiing. I hit the black runs with the girls, the Plunge and Bushwacker. Amazing to think how scary those runs were a few years ago! On the way out I grabbed something for motivation in my office - there was this gorgeous house for sale right off the ski runs for the bargin of 2.2 million! (and only 2700 square feet) Ah, I will keep working and push back the urge to be a ski bum once again... :)
