Birthday Weekend/ Memorial Day

Friday started out rough – on my way to work my car started smoking out the front hood. I had Sushi with the sister on Thursday, and it was having issues starting. It had been having issues turning over to start for several months, but the dealership could not find anything previously. After turning into a gas station, it died completely. I was sure that I would have to get a new car at that point! Luckily, the started just gave out and fried the battery. After both were replaced, I have freedom to drive again!

Saturday – Amy and I were up early for our first training run! We are doing the Disneyland ½ marathon coming up, along with others once they book it! It is Amy’s first, and she did a great job on her first longer run. From there, I was lucky enough to have a spa day planned in honor of my birthday – massage, manicure, pedicure and hair. Ahhhhh….so relaxing! Little did I know what was in store for me that evening. Turns out a surprise b-day party was planned for me. I walked into the house all decorated with balloons and streamers, all my friends there, nice surprise! We then headed off to Scottsdale for some dancing. Thank you to all that made the night so special!

Sunday was the traditional pool party for Memorial Day weekend. Food, friends, water and games. I played Cranium for the first time and loved it! I highly recommend if you are having friends over, to keep that game handy. Since I had Monday off, I spent more time with the sister before she leaves back to Portland. I also caught up on my new favorite show – Man vs. Wild. It is about this guy named Bear (how appropriate) who gets dropped in places all over the globe and has 5 days to find his way out using his survival skills. Check it out on Discovery!
