Maui

Ahhhh…. Back from tropical paradise. For the past week, I was lucky enough to be in Maui for the first time. LOVED IT! So what did I do? I think just about everything a tourist can do on the island. I took a snorkeling tour, drove to the top of the Haleakala Crater where you are above the clouds, saw a hilarious “magic show” which was way more fun than expected, drove the road to Hana hiking to waterfalls through bamboo, body surfed the waves off Wailea, hopped around to several beaches my favorites being Wailea and Kapalua to swim and snorkel, ate yummy seafood, and of course did the expected Luau. :) For the most memorable moment – I am happy to say that I am now a certified Padi scuba diver! I had hoped I would not be one of those people with issues, but with my previous fear of deep water lets just say I am very thankful to an extremely patient instructor. I had a mild freak out moment getting into the water for the first time, but after 4 dives I am much more comfortable. The water was about 40 feet deep and crystal clear – got to see lots of green sea turtles above, coral, colorful fish, and even an octopus who sprayed ink! The only downside was the sunburn I got the middle of the trip on my back from snorkeling. And by the way…..I was in the water diving the day of the shark attack there, just farther up the coast. Eek! I will definitely go back to visit. Now that I am certified, I can go many places there to scuba (you can see from the pic how happy I am that I got through the rough first part!). I highly recommend visiting there!
