It has been two years since I have headed to Havasupai, but with Amara having extra spots open how could I resist? :) I seem to find something new each time I go to the falls (this is my 5th time there now). This time, it was unbelieveable wind and a hidden area behind Angel falls. I took Friday off work to get ready and make the long drive up there. I did the normal routine of sleeping in the car before the early morning hike, but this time the wind pulled a trick. I have never been in a car that rocked that much with the wind and it made the start of the hike already an adventure! The good news is that I made it to the falls in record time. I had a cold last week, so I was amazed that I was still able to hike so well. Unfortuately, with the wind the dust came up and by the end of the weekend had a sinus infection (still worth it!)
At Angel falls, another group pointed out a place to hike up to for an amazing view. That view turned out to be a great trove at the top of the cascading falls where the water began. Felt like being in the rain forest! Overall a very fun time. I needed the break after the long days at work recently!
