Happy Holidays! I spent my time off with my family this past weekend. My sis was in town from Portland, so Saturday started with helping her finish her xmas shopping. Sunday the family went over to my brothers to celebrate the holiday with his family and in-laws. My little niece is getting so cute! She had fun playing with her new dolls and any noise makers she could find. Little kids get so spoiled with toys – she had I think 26 presents when counted! Monday night on xmas Eve, my family opens up all presents. Yes – all presents. As I have grown older I have discovered not all families do Christmas that way. We were told as kids that our house was one of the first to be visited by Santa. One of our parents then took us out to look at lights and try to find Santa while the other parent stayed home because they were “tired”. Somehow we always believed this, as usually when we got home Dad was actually asleep from working long hours! Suddenly all out presents and stockings would appear while we were gone. Some people I have told this to think that it is strange, but people with multiple kids usually think it is brilliant! As a parent, I imagine it is a luxury to sleep in on xmas day! Christmas Day we still get together to have dinner together.

My family always opens all gifts on Christmas Eve as well-we only leave stockings for the next morning. I love it that way and too thought that was what everyone did.
