Friday night started off the weekend at Salty Senorita. Bryar is back in town (used to be on flagline with her) and I also just love the chips and salsa there! I had to call it an early night to be up early not for running this time, but for Child Spree! This is an annual event for the 20-30 girls and guys, partnered up with the Boys and Girls club and Mervyns. Thanks to a generous donation from Mervyns, the club takes a group of kids to Mervyns before they open for back to school shopping. I realized just how out of touch I am now that I do not work with kids. The store manager mentioned the kids want Heelys??? Apparently that is what those shoes with the skates on the bottoms are called. So, I took a girl around going into 5th grade (who did want heely’s, but they are not allowed in school so I had to put my foot down!) and we got shoes, clothes, and she got a full backpack ready for school! Afterwards, there was an after party at a beautiful house up that way – yummy breakfast bar! Since I was up north I spent time at Desert Ridge as well.
Now an update on training – I have been slacking! I do still lift three days a week with the trainer, but running and cardio have been off. Sunday though, I got back in the habit with a 7 mile run/walk with Amy to catch up and breakfast afterwards. We have the ½ marathon in only 5 weeks! I needed more motivation to do cardio… I have found that when I do not run outside I slack off. The treadmill is just boring for distance running. I signed up with my old marathon training group 1st marathon for the next month in a new daily program called Trainstrong. After the first workout today, I have no doubt I will be ready. Running, push ups, situps, lunges, sprints. My bedtime will be early – for the next month I have to be there at 5:15am!
