It was a weekend of new experiences and words. Friday night, I headed to the new “it” bar Olive and Ivy. Fun company, but long waits for tables and service. It is super nice outside right now, so I spent time on the back patio eating and talking.
Saturday the forecast called for 80 degrees (Yeah!) and I went to South Mountain to hike again and trail run. I had not run since the marathon, and I certainly could feel the difference! Beautiful outside…and nice views. I was inspired by all the bikers (triathlon and mountain bikes) to take my own out of hiding. I hit the bike shop to get a few supplies and get my bike back in shape. That afternoon, I went back to play a round of tennis and then on to the Greek Festival! Opa! Yummy food, games, and dancing. I ate too many sweets, but they were so good! My old favorite was baklava, but I discovered a new one - "Kataïfi is a pastry that looks like it is wrapped in shredded wheat. It is a traditional pastry made with nuts on the inside and soaked in a sugar or honey"….. So good….
Sunday I discovered even more new phases…trifecta, superfecta, quinella…all terms for horse racing! Kelly and Ami had a pre-wedding get together at Turf Paradise due to their upcoming nuptials . The wedding party got to head down to the track, and they had a race named after them. The rain cooled things down, but we were lucky enough to be in the club house enclosed.
The downside is that I may have figured out what is wrong with my head – I have been having issues for a couple of weeks with intense headaches on one side. I thought it was sinuses first, but meds did not work. After more investigation, it may be migraines – ugh. Happens twice a day at least, so back to the Dr!
