I went to my monthly board meeting for the YMCA tonight. For those that do not know, I am on the camping services board for the YMCA here. I worked for many summers at camps in Arizona and one in New York. Ever just have a place that you always feel at home? Yeah, my parents house still does that for me but really it is the camp I grew up at that really hits the heart. I just had so many great times there. I have had discussions with some friends who worked there and other camps with me and tried to figure out what made it so special. Sure, the friendships are fantastic, you play all day, but it is also the hardest job I ever had. Really, I think it comes down to living in the moment and really enjoying what you are doing. Do you remember what you did for work last week? Probably not, but I sure remember the first time I backpacked, or the first time I sat around a fire and made smores. Now, I just try to make this opportunity for other kids my giving my time on the board of directors. As for that place that feels like home, here is a pic that I love. It is off of a view on Spruce Mountain in Prescott that I used to hike to often, my second "home" that whenever I get caught up in something I like to think about, and slow down. :)
