Annie Oakley

I watched Hildago this past weekend. In it, there are several scenes where Annie in Buffalo Bill’s wild west show performs. Maybe back then it was more of a necessity to have a women know her way around a gun in the wild west. I find that now, most of my friends are intimidated by it. When I tell them what I am learning, they wonder why. I went out with my resident weapons experts this weekend – my former military brother and his friend – to Ben Avery shooting range. I think of say 60-70 people there, I saw 4 women. I am not one to go hunting, but I do think it is good for a woman to know what to do should she ever be in a situation. Imagine getting attacked, somehow getting a hold of the assailant’s weapon and not knowing anything what to do. So with that in mind, I am learning what to do and hope to take this class taught there for women’s protection. I used a 22 this weekend, my favorite for target shooting.

Later that night, I watched a duel of another kind between the Red Sox and Diamondbacks at the ballpark. Here is what I know about baseball – that peanuts and cracker jacks are involved! Ugh I need to go running now! I am in it for the good times with friends while there and apparently all the tasty treats. Live games in any sport are so much better than on TV. I must say though, it is interesting when you are at the hometown ballpark, and people are booing for the home team! There are A LOT of red sox fans here!

Have a great week all!
