Project Management

The last several days I have been at a class on Project Management. I have been interested in this for awhile and wanting to learn more for work, so it was nice to work on the concepts of focusing on your goal (scope) and planning your priorities (tasks) with a timeline. The class was for work, but it is inevitable that you take these classes and think how this can fit into your own life. A couple of key concepts were that without knowing what you want first, your tasks will go off in other areas than you planned. And.....50% of any project is willingness to do so. You can have the fanciest looking tool or idea in the world, but if no one wants to use it it doen't mean anything. So how did I use this knowledge in my own life? Went to my parents house. What I got from Project Management is that people (and companies) make time for what they feel is important. If you make sure you always have in the front of your mind the priorities in your life (and not have too many as main priorities) you will have time for them. If you lose focus, other items that are not top priorities will creep in. You can change your top priorites, but people make time or give resources for what they feel is important more than any other indication (it was pointed out that communication is 7% verbal) So, I wanted to make some time talking and seeing those people that were priorites for me. :)
