Kayaking Adventures Salt River

This weekend I finally got to go kayaking! I was excited to go with a group of managers at work. What I did not know is how much Murphy was going to visit! I had other plans (including supporting ASU!) but had to cancel them all since I was stuck at the river. I started at Tempe Town Lake helping a friend with her kayaks. Then on to someone who rents kayaks and calls himself “Captain Ted” definitely a river rat. Once getting to the river we left cars at different spots so that people that wanted to stop early could get out and we would have a car at the end. The actual kayaking was great – we went down where the tubers go, but went farther. However, there were some strange sights along the way. One girl tipped over a bunch of rocks and got out early. At one point the sheriff’s helicopter was circling us, ok at first but then they got really low and did not go away! We found out later someone stole a cooler with keys in it and they were looking for it – found it with some tubers near us. We saw horses in the middle of the river, and by that point many of the crew got tired after 3 hours of rowing. At the end, we thought we were almost there until we discovered the keys to the car we left there were actually at a car at the top! A few went to try and hitchhike – and mostly hike – to the other car. After they were gone an extended amount of time another guy in the group decided to try and hitchhike for the car with the trailer (yes, we also discovered the crew going to find the keys had left another set of keys needed with us!) and the sheriff again checking in with us. After all was said and done we did finally get back together, but it made for a VERY long day! I will go again, but leave the keys this time in the right place! Pictures to come soon!

Sunday I still went and ran with Amy – but I have slacked off and could tell! I am back on again with Lifetime Fitness! Other news – I am starting to teach online again so that I can keep up with that.
