If there were two themes in my life right now, it would be getting out being active and looking into opportunites to help people. I have had some fun adventures recently that incorporate both. A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to attend the Cystic Fibrosis AZ Finest Event held at the Valley Ho. Beth was being honored for her charity work with the organization. It is not too often that I have the chance to dress up, but we went all out for this one! Girls got their hair all done, dressed up, and some dancing. I had never been to the hotel before, and it is just a charming mix of modern retro.
Since then, I have been inspired to get back into the non-profit areas. I am still on the board of directors for the YMCA camps and starting to plan a capital campaign for next year. I have started looking at other options to help out. There is a service club that I heard about at the CF event that I am checking out, looking at teaching a Junior Achievement class, United Way giving, even St Vincent de Paul where I did an internship years ago. I miss helping out to other the way I have in the past and am looking to get involved again.

As for getting out I have been doing that too. :) My new favorite wine bar is Postino. Wonderful ambiance and they have the best brushetta I have ever tasted! Another favorite has been the Piano Bar where I was at last Saturday. Dueling pianos, and music flashbacks to the 80's. I always have a great time singing and dancing when the gang heads there. Then the good ol' standby Z Tejas for grabbing a bite after work.
And of course there is getting out to run! I have been sticking to running a few days a week, but my consistency has been slacking! It is coming up to the 20 week mark before the marathon so I will be taking more time for long runs very soon. I have been still belly dancing, and may even do a solo here the next session.
